The biblical term “salt of the earth” refers to one who is honest, grounded, and essential. In our present time, people fitting this bill seem like a rarity: ours is a funhouse mirror simulation, all gesture but no gist. Art still offers one of the last chances of direct encounter: where materials matter, and form impacts us, grounding experience back into the world of things. We feel the steady, insistent pulse that is older than language. It is not mystical but chemical: a rhythm of extraction, labor, entropy, and rebirth. Our body recognizes it before our mind.
Join us, and listen to the pulse.
- curator, Josefin Lundahl
Salt of the Earth is a group exhibition born from a longing to reconnect with the ground beneath us, with one another, and with the quiet pulse of the natural world. In an age defined by screens and algorithms, this show gathers artists across disciplines who return to the tactile, the handmade, the human. Through clay, fiber, pigment, metal, or gesture, echoing the ancestral rhythms that link us to place and to each other, each work in Salt of the Earth carries a kind of grounding. There is an “earthy” thread that binds these pieces together: a celebration of what is raw, imperfect, and alive.
