A SPLENDOR  CODA

Strike-Slip Gallery is proud to present A Splendor Coda, a group exhibition featuring the work of Peter Hurley, Jen Weisberg, Brendan Sepe, Lana Nichols, Nat Leon Hilton, and Andrew Sainz.

Curated by Desi Valdez

The show is on view from

March 6 to April 18, 2026.

Looking towards more abstracted work for this exhibit, I wanted to put together a group of artists that speaks more to the thoughts and meditation than to the given and direct.

Images of people, places and things (I’m describing the definition of a Noun as I remember it from elementary school) are inundating us constantly from every direction. Images. Passing through us. Fleeting. I wanted to bring pieces of art that I could be caught staring at with my mouth half-open for an extended period of time. Invoke those feelings of reflection, and feel those feelings, and then think about them some more.

Although these pieces could be inspired by things that could be described as a Noun, it might not always be so clear, and the obscuring is what I’m looking for; blocks of color, textures, re-envisioned figures, even disjointed landscapes; let my mind run with it as I drool half-ajar.

A coda to something that you or I might not even recognize yet. I hear the melodies sometimes when I stare for long enough.

Coda:

the concluding passage of a piece or movement, typically forming an addition to the basic structure.
