Kristen Wong Zine Workshop
2-Day Collage & Flash Poem Workshop with Kristen Wong and Keolin Fire at Strike Slip Gallery
Join us Saturday & Sunday, March 29 & 30, from 12–3 PM for an immersive workshop where we’ll create top-of-mind, shotgun-fire, gut-response collages, prose, and poems.
You'll leave with 2–3 raw, ephemeral, and deeply personal collages—art built from ephemera and minutiae, centered around your unique gaze and way of seeing. This workshop is designed to spark something new, to serve as a catalyst for creative awakening.
We’ll guide you through visual and creative writing exercises tailored to your individual responses. Together, we’ll create imagery and writing, then fuse them in ways that mirror False Spring—finding what resonates with you personally.
What to bring:
Bring any and all favorite, least favorite, or top-of-mind ephemera—or just bring yourself, your thoughts, and your energy. You bring images, we bring images. And if we mess up? No worries—the printer’s on deck. Forget perfect—tell your truth, and we’ll make it perfect.
At the end of the workshop, we’ll release a collective zine featuring everything we’ve created, along with some bonus pages. This zine will debut at the closing reception of False Spring on April 18, alongside an anthology produced by Kristen.
Snacks and beverages provided.

“Perspectivas” presented by Latinx in Architecture
Latinx in Architecture (LiA), a knowledge community of the American Institute of Architects, San Francisco (AIASF), is proud to announce PERSPECTIVAS 2024—an opportunity for design professionals to showcase built and unbuilt design work to the Bay Area community at large. This exhibition aims to display the work and talent of architecture professionals, designers, artists, students and related fields practicing in San Francisco and the Greater Bay Area. We acknowledge that architects are not alone in the design process, and we welcome work that represents these collaborations. This invitation encourages a correlation with Latin America in some aspect of identity, geography, craft, influence, etc.

Sengoku Sakura & Shibuya Nights Fashion Shows feat. Ambrose Grimes (Heisei Ko)
戦国の桜x渋谷夜’’ (Warring Era Cherry Blossoms x Shibuya Nights) is a representation of Japanese culture woven into garments and translated into fashion. The songs (stories) are all tethered in multiple mediums of Heisei Ko such as fabrics, prints, poetry, and ultimately, a feeling. What you’re seeing and touching are the stories, legends, and feelings from another time that is different from ours, but have still endured today. The Black culture aspect comes in the form of brashness of being unapologetic in the garments and their soft yet avant-garde aesthetic.
I typically pick my fabrics based on colors, texture, prints (if not self-designed), and story in the print. Or sometimes the story comes out of the print I’ve sketched after drawing the garment design itself. An amalgamation of vestiges from centuries past culminating into the passerby crisscross footsteps of today. The art of my worn-stories or garments as you’d call them, come from so many places. The color of the fabric, texture, old Japanese legends, historical events, places I’ve been, the poetry I write in Japanese, to even simple and little fun things like an anime or movie I saw in my childhood.
Ultimately, I cannot create a print piece let alone a garment without a story. A story is supposed to have a theme and reason. But at the end, there should always be a feeling.

몸과 얼굴 (Momgwa Eolgul) - "Bodies and Faces" Solo Exhibition feat. Jun Yang
Momgwa Eolgul" 몸과 얼굴 is a deeply personal testimony of my life as a Queer immigrant. This body of work reflects my journey through layers of self-identity, grief, and growth, weaving them together through my artistic lens. This multi-media exhibition features large and small-scale paintings, a site-specific mural, paper cutout collages, and textile sculptures. These pieces focus on healing from past trauma while exploring themes of recovery. My sexuality and gender fluidity consistently influence my work, driving my visceral explorations of existence and Queer joy. As both the subject and the object of my art, I navigate inner worlds and emotional landscapes, sharing an intimate journey of personal regeneration and self reflection.
